Wedding Beauty Treatments

November 21st, 2008

Every little girl dreams of having a fairytale wedding and looking the glowing, absolutely radiant bride on her special day. Women always say that it’s wonderful to be marrying someone who loves them just the way they are; but on the day the knot is tied, nothing less than perfection is expected. Now there are wedding planners to help ensure the event goes smoothly, caterers to serve great food and family to take care of the guests. That just leaves the bride’s looks.

Unless there’s money to burn on the various beauty treatments, discipline and a little help from friends can go a long way to helping every woman have her gorgeous face and great form. Let’s face it, not all of us have been blessed with movie star good looks. The transformation begins on the day she says yes to getting married.

Since the pictures are meant to be for posterity, most ladies would like to have clear skin for their pictures. Acne is an absolute eyesore! Some facial problems are caused by bad habits such as constantly touching the face, lack of cleansing and insufficient sleep. It will help to keep those hands away and learn to use facial products properly. If the budget can fit it in, see a dermatologist. Make sure to tell them when the wedding is so that they know how much time they’ve got to help you get set.

On the day itself, let a professional do your make-up. Take the time to shop around and find someone who you’re comfortable with and whose style you like. They may cost you more than if you did it yourself, but they will make your face picture perfect.

Wedding Gift Ideas

November 21st, 2008

A marriage is a joyous moment in the life of two individuals. A couple shares this beautiful personal moment with their near and dear ones, who rejoice in their happiness. A wedding gift is a tangible depiction of the feelings of the giver for the couple. A gift has to be carefully chosen, keeping the couple’s individual tastes, likes and dislikes in mind, if it is intended to serve its purpose. Nothing is more distasteful and insulting than an inconsiderately given gift. A gift’s value is not determined by its monetary value, but it must communicate the giver’s thought appropriately and adequately.

While the market abounds in numerous gift options and alternatives, selecting the right gift for the couple can be a challenge sometimes. While one can overhaul the market, surf the net and burn a hole in the purse, choosing the perfect gift requires some thinking and a little homework. A giver should always strive to give something unique and different.

Personalized gifts always stand out and make a personal statement on behalf of the giver. A special memento, decorative crystal, or a paired watch with the couple’s names engraved in it along with the wedding date is something memorable for the wedding couple.

For very close relatives, a hand-made scrapbook complete with family pictures, or a family tree platter with hand-painted pictures of family members along with their names, signature photo quilts, or customized ceramic plates with the couples pictures and wedding dates etched on it are a few ideal gift options.

In case of a hard-core golf fan, one can give a golf set with the couple’s names engraved on it. A Bible with the couple’s names and wedding dates engraved on it is an ideal gift for a spiritually inclined couple. It is necessary to be aware and informed about a couple’s interests, hobbies, tastes and the like. A gift can be given based on this kind of information. Romantic gifts like photo pillows with the couple’s portraits on it can also be given. One can also give gift certificates, home décor items, classic gift items like crystal and silverware, or various wedding mementos like a polymer clay image or metal candles, just right for the mantel and keepsakes.

The choice of exchanging gifts for each other rests on the bride and the groom. Couples can exchange framed love poems, engraved jewelry or even unconventional items like a vintage car, for those who can afford it. A thoughtful gift certificate to a relaxing spa or a recreational resort is just the right way for the bride or bridegroom to express their gratitude and love for their parents. It is the thought that matters, and mere framed poetry or a handwritten letter to the parent is also as valuable, if not more.

Parents can give bridal showers, a party to acquaint the couple to the family, or some personalized gift items, including gift certificates. Thank-you gifts need not be expensive, but should cater to individual taste. It should be given according to the kind of relationship one shares with the guests.

Wedding Gifts

November 20th, 2008

When you are invited to a wedding, you immediately start thinking about what you are going to buy as a gift. Picking out the perfect wedding gift may take some time, but most of the time, the bridal couple has registered with a store and has listed the gifts that they would like to get from that store. When this is the case, your shopping task is easier because the bigger stores with bridal registries are not only nearby, but they may also have web sites with all the information you need to make an online purchase of exactly what the couple wants.

If you are not fortunate enough to have a bridal registry to fall back on, then you will have to use your best judgment when it comes to purchasing the right wedding gift for the special couple. One place to look for great gifts is online. You can find almost anything for a practical or original wedding gift. You will be able to find things that they can use around their new home or you can find something that will make them smile. Either way, you have the whole world of wedding shopping at your fingertips when you shop online.

If you decide NOT to give money, there are many stores that offer gift certificates. You may decide to get one for a home improvement store such as Lowe’s, HomeClick, and The Home Depot or a home decorating store such as Spiegel. If this is not something that you think the bridal couple would take the time to use, you can always go with a great old standby, the restaurant gift certificate. This is a great gift for any couple.

It does not have to be so hard to find the perfect wedding gift that will satisfy the happy couple. All you have to do is think about what they like and what you think would be a great choice for them.

If you come across a great deal for a special wedding gift, then you should jump at it. Get it no matter how inexpensive it is. There is no set amount that you have to spend on any wedding gift. There is nothing wrong with saving money when it comes to buying a wedding gift. You can find many expensive-looking gifts that may not cost a lot. All you have to do to find these awesome presents is to put a little effort into your search. You will be amazed at what you find.

Wedding Ceremony Music

November 18th, 2008

Music is an essential part of our daily lives, and it has the power to make your wedding ceremony a truly special occasion. Because so much depends on the music, you have to make sure you plan it carefully. The music you chose can make or break your event.

When choosing your wedding ceremony music, be sure you select music that corresponds with the formality of the wedding. Among other things, keep in mind the religious affiliation, and the length of the ceremony when planning the music. If you ceremony is held in a church, you can expect help from the church organist. Before you finalize your wedding ceremony music, there are a few important issues to consider.

3 Common Musical Categories

Classical – This genre of music conforms to an established form and appeals to critical interest and developed musical taste.

Examples of classical wedding music are:

“Canon in D” (Johann Pachelbel)
“Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin” (Richard Wagner) (also known as “Here Comes the Bride”)
“Air” (from Water Music Suite), (George Frederic Handel)
“The Prince of Denmark’s March” (Trumpet Voluntary in D major) (Jeremiah Clarke) “Guitar Concerto in D Major”, Largo, (Antonio Vivaldi)
“Coronation March for Czar Alexander III” (Peter I. Tchaikovsky)
“Overture” (from Royal Fireworks Music), (George Frederic Handel)
“Promenade” (from Pictures at an Exhibition), (Modest Mussorgsky)
“Sinfonia” (from Cantata No. 156), (Johann Sebastian. Bach)
“Cantata No.29″ (Johann Sebastian Bach)
“Prelude and Fugue in C” (Johann Sebastian Bach)
“Toccata” (from L’Orfeo), (Claudio Monteverdi)
“Romance from String Quartet” (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
“Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major” (“Elvira Madigan”) (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
“Trumpet Tune in A-Major” (David N. Johnson)
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream, incidental music, Op. 61 Wedding March” (Felix Mendelssohn)
“Winter,” Largo or “Spring” Allegro (from The Four Seasons), (Antonio Vivaldi)

Sacred – Sacred music is dedicated to religious themes and symbols. It is music considered worthy of religious ceremony. Schedule a time to meet with the church organist before you begin selecting your ceremony music. Beware that some churches have very firm rules on what music is used in liturgical settings. The church organist should be well qualified to help you in selecting your wedding ceremony music.

Secular – Secular music is dedicated to non-religious subject matter. It is not necessarily forbidden during religious service, but you have to confirm with your house of worship that your chosen music is approved.

Examples of secular wedding music are:

“At Last” (Etta James)
“Only Time” (Enya)
“Come Away With Me” (Norah Jones)
“Appalachia Waltz” (Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Mark O’Connor)
“Unforgettable” (Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole)
“It’s Only Time” (Magnetic Fields)
“The Look of Love” (Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach)
“The Vow” (Jeremy Lubbock)
“Come What May” (Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor)
“Storybook Love” from the movie “The Princess Bride” (Willy DeVille)
“Wedding Processional” (from The Sound of Music) (Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein)
“Can’t help falling in love” (Elvis Presley)
“What A Wonderful World” (Louis Armstrong)
“When I’m Sixty-Four” (The Beatles)

From the Dust of the Earth?

November 14th, 2008

Scripture reference-
Gen. 2:7
The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

God formed man from the dust of the earth? Should we believe this statement literally or was the author of Genesis speaking figuratively?

I never really questioned the statement, but I suppose since it’s in the Bible, someone has questioned it at one time.

I personally believe this statement to be a literal fact, one that God proved to my husband and I, in a personal and yet powerful demonstration.

On October 25, 2002 (The day my stillborn daughter was born), my husband Gary followed a nurse as she carried the baby to an infant crib. They then proceeded to give her a sponge bath.
Once the baby was clean, they dressed her in a diaper, and the burial clothes I had picked out for her to wear to her funeral.

The nurse then wrapped her up in some blankets and walked toward me holding the baby. She asked me if I wanted to see and hold her.

Reluctant at first (because I knew she had already passed away), I agreed to go ahead and hold her.

As the nurse placed the baby in my arms, my first response was one of relief. The baby was beautiful in my eyes. Her face fully formed with two eyes, a nose and mouth. She appeared to be sleeping with her eyes closed, and a look of peace covered her entire body.

As I lied in the hospital bed studying the newborn’s face, Gary walked over to me and whispered, “Did you smell her?” “No,” I answered. Puzzled he would ask such a question at this time.
As I bent over to give her a kiss on the cheek, an unbelievably potent scent coming from her body consumed the air between us. I was shocked and inspired by the smell of her body.

The smell of her body was that of freshly tilled soil from the earth.
If you have ever been on a farm or in someone’s yard when they are tilling the land for their crops, then you should have a good idea of the scent I am referring.

As I pondered what I was experiencing, I couldn’t help but remember the words in Genesis how it says that God formed man from the dust of the earth.

My conclusion: Everyone is made in the image of God, but if we don’t have the breath of God passing through our bodies, we are just dirt. I also believe we can safely trust Him to be speaking the truth with every single word that proceeds from His mouth.

Online Safety – 8 Rules to Keep Your Children Safe from Online Predators

November 13th, 2008

The Internet is a wondrous place, full of fun and adventure. However, for our children it can be a dark dangerous place.

Adults are able to process information and draw conclusions, most children are not able to do this effectively. They tend to believe instead of disbelieve. This makes them easy targets for people who intend to prey upon them.

Consider these facts:

  • One in 5 children were solicited for sex in the past year.
  • One in 4 children were exposed to photos of people having sex.
  • About 1 in 17 children were threatened or harassed on the Internet, including threats of harm to the child, friends or other family members.

With that in mind, here are eight tips to follow to help keep them safe when online. Print them out and post them next to your child’s computer.

  • Never give anyone personal information such as your address, telephone number, or where you go to school.
  • Let your parent’s know right away if you see any information that makes you feel uncomfortable or afraid.
  • Offline meetings can be dangerous! Never agree to get together with someone you “meet” online without first checking with your parents.
  • Do not respond to any messages that are bad or make you feel uncomfortable. Tell your parents right away so that they can take care of it.
  • Parents and children should set up rules for going online. These rules should determine the time of day that the child can be online, the length of time and appropriate areas to visit.
  • Do not give out your Internet password to anyone, other than your parents.
  • Always check with your parents before downloading or installing software or doing anything that could possibly hurt your computer or jeopardize your family’s privacy.
  • Do not do anything that hurts other people or is illegal.

I strongly believe that you should only allow your children online when they can be directly supervised. At the very least, place the computer in a heavily trafficked area. This will give you a better chance to monitor their activities.

Children are a great joy, as well as a great responsibility. Accept that responsibility and do everything in your power to keep them safe!

Programs like PC Tattletale can help you monitor your child’s activities online by alerting you to potential dangerous behavior.

Do you really know what your child is doing on the Internet?

With PC Tattletale you will…

Bible Prophecy States EU to Form Core Group

November 12th, 2008

EU industry commissioner Gunter Verheugen, when asked by the German daily Die Welt how he sees the European Union in 20 years’ time, responded: “I believe… we will have a political union, but maybe not with all states that now form part of the EU.”

“Certain European states will agree to have common competencies in foreign, economic and financial policy as well as in judicial policy.”

The European Observer reported “The remarks point to the possible creation of a ‘core’ Europe of EU states further integrating policies, with other states opting out.

This vision emerged in the 1990s in German conservative political circles, and has since won supporters mainly in France and Belgium…”.

Actually, the vision was foreseen thousands of years ago. The Prophet Daniel foresaw the present European Union will forge ahead into the final revival of the unho ly Roman Empire that will again stomp the earth; it will consist of TEN NATIONS of Europe that will serve as the engine of the “New Europe,” with the driving force behind it later revealed as GERMANY and the VATICAN. Even these top ten will not have the right chemistry to maintain a long-lasting relationship. Such a marriage of convenience will only last 3 1/2 years.

The Book of Revelation confirms this vision by offering further details, showing how ten leaders will surrender their sovereignty to ONE MAN who will head Europe; how the ten kings will have been under very heavy religious influence to lend their support to such a man; and 2 Thessalonians warns Europe’s leading man will fall prey to seductive powers to proclaim himself a divine emperor!

Europe’s (German?) wannabe divine emperor will mislead the nations to fight against the return and reign of the real Jesus from Heaven who will appear in full view of all mankind — in the sky — before touching down upon the Mount of Olives. We are getting very close to the fulfillment of these prophecies!

Daniel 2:41-45

41 Just as you saw that the feet and [ten] toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.

44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. 45 This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands–a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. “The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy.”

Daniel 7:23-27

23 “He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. 24 The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. 25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. [3 1/2 years]

26 ” ‘But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. 27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.’

Daniel 11:36

36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place.

2 Thessalonians 2:4

4He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

Europe’s Bitter Roots offers greater biblical and historical details of what’s going on in Europe right before our very eyes. Momentous changes are due to take effect and rock the world!
