All Humans are Motivated By Sex; Why All the Guilt?

August 14th, 2008

We know that all humans are genetically motivated by sex and that is probably why we have nearly 7 billion people on the planet now. Obviously there’s a lot of sex going on otherwise there would not be so many people being made. Nevertheless, something so natural to the human species has turned into a very negative thing by religious folks and many have created a sense of guilt for the desire of sex.

This is unfortunate because it is probably the most natural occurring thing in the human body and has insured procreation of all the last generation’s leading up to you today. Whoever decided to associate guilt with the desire for sex is indeed an evil person and any religion that tries to say that we should feel guilty for the desire of sex is an animal and is using something that is very natural for the human species as a way to try to control them and fill guilty and lower the individual’s self-esteem.

There’s nothing wrong with desiring sex as a matter-of-fact it helps in supercharging the immune system of the human body. When everything is working right you should indeed be desiring sex because the chemicals in your brain or working correctly. This is not to say you should not refrain from overdoing it in a civilized society, which has a set of rules.

We all agree to live under a set of laws and principles and we should follow those and that goes without saying. But feeling guilty for desiring sex is about the silliest and stupidest thing I’ve ever heard and you should never follow a religion that has you believing such utter hokum. Consider this in 2006.

Go Forward with Reckless Abandon – Cautiously

August 14th, 2008

I’m a huge fan of the Internet and, from the first time I logged on to it, I have been happily making new discoveries.

Along with online shopping, college classes, and bill payment, I discovered that the Net can be a great resource for locating employment.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that there are a lot of “get rich quick” schemes online as well. Fortunately, all it takes is some common sense and the time to carefully read the details of offers to determine whether they’re legitimate business opportunities.

Keep in mind that, “If it looks too good to be true, it probably is”.

I have personally found employment online, including my current primary job.

So enjoy the Web, surf ’til your heart’s content, and use a little caution. You’ll be fine.

Not long ago I was visiting my eighty-year old uncle, who lives in a nursing home due to a disability.

But his mind is sharp and he keeps everyone on their toes. So I can’t say I was surprised to find him surfing the Web when I got there.

When I asked if he was searching for anything in particular, he said he was sorting through the online employment ads, searching for legitimate business opportunities. He couldn’t see a reason why he should waste all of this perfectly good downtime.

A few weeks later I saw him again and, this time, he was typing away on a project. He explained that my timing was perfect and that he was ready for a break. After all, he’d been working at his home-based business all morning and was “making a killing”.

Relationship Advice: F is for Fun

August 9th, 2008

It’s my experience that the couple that has fun together has a much better chance of staying together.

Very few of the couples that I coach in my office or on the phone are regularly having fun. Life has gotten in the way, and fun is the last thing they are thinking of.

No room for fun

Most couples are caught up in what I call GARR – the Great American Rinse and Repeat. It goes something like this: Get up in the morning, get the kids off to school and you to work. Work all day, come home, have dinner, get ready for the next day, get the kids to bed, watch TV, fall asleep. Get up and do it all again.

This schedule leaves little room for fun.

Without the stress relief of having fun and enjoying each other, it becomes all to easy to irritate each other, bicker, and eventually become strangers.

How to have fun again

Getting back to having fun is not all that hard, it just takes some discipline.

Here’s what I do with couples in my coaching practice:

1. Each person makes a list of what each remembers they used to do for fun.

2. Each person makes a list of what they would like to do for fun.

3. The couple merges their lists.

4. The couple chooses five things they would like to do for fun.

5. Schedule one thing and do it. Then another, and another, and another.

Husband or Wife Getting Under Your Skin Again? Five Ways to Diffuse the Tension

August 8th, 2008

Living under the same roof can mean tense times, no matter how great your relationship is. How to survive those days when everything he says gets on your nerves? How to deal with her constant complaining? Less talk, more action. Next time the kettle’s about to boil over, try one of these six ways to diffuse the tension before it makes you blurt things you’ll regret about the one you love.

1. Spend some time apart.

Many couples get into the habit of doing everything together. This is “cute” in the courtship days, but what about those hobbies and interests you used to have before your partner entered the picture? Feeling “boxed in” may be a sign that it’s time for some you-time, for both of you. Join a new club, play a sport, take up a hobby that you enjoy. When you reconverge with your partner, you may just feel refreshed, renewed, and imagine this – you’ll have new stories to share with each other.

2. Tackle a task together.

Put a lid on the incessant quibbling or nitpicking, get together and tackle a task. Split the household chores, paint the livingroom, clean out the garage or divide the yard work between the two of you. Examples: she digs the new flower beds, you rake the leaves… you paint the walls, she does the trim. Cooperation gets the job done faster and will get the two of you working together instead of against each other — and that’s a great feeling!

3. Satisfy those animal urges.

Is he getting you hot under the collar again? It’s natural for the testosterone and estrogen to clash; that’s what attracted you to each other in the first place. Instead of getting into yet another unproductive conversation, why not do it like you did in the old days. Put the moves on and ease that tension the healthy and fun way… between the sheets! Yes, a good roll in the sack has a way of turning those relationship mountains back into the molehillls they really are. I dare you to try to nag your spouse right after sex. Sorry, but you can’t do it!

4. Take a hike.

Whether you decide to hit the pavement together or opt for separate exercise routines, there’s no denying that being active will put the both of you in better spirits and curb those lashing tongues. Do you want to be two slovenly porkers, grumpy and bloated, taking digs at each other every chance you get? Of course you don’t! Getting in shape will help your bodies start functioning at peak performance again, and you might even start looking better too. Now that’s attractive!

5. Road trip.

When was the last time you got in the car and just went? Jump in, turn up the radio and head someplace you’ve never been before. Even if it’s only an hour away, a change of scenery will be invigorating and put you in a positive frame of mind. If you don’t have time to roam far, remember that something interesting is probably happening right in your town. Visit a historic landmark, hit an outdoor concert, go apple-picking, check out downtown Cruise Night, watch the local kids play soccer. A great way to stop harping on each other is to simply get out of the house.

Despite what the experts say, communication isn’t alway the solution to couple issues. Stop talking, get off your duffs, and start DOING. You may just find that once you’re back in action, you’re getting more action. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

Patio Dog Doors

August 6th, 2008

Patio dog doors are essential especially when you are not around for your pets. Through the patio dog doors, your pets are able to come into the house or play out in the yard without any difficulty.

Installing patio dog doors

Contrary to popular belief, installing a patio dog door is not at all hard. Because this kind of dog door makes use of a ready-made tall and translucent pane that fits the size of an existing door frame on your patio. Right at the bottom of this panel is a flexible pet door, so that your dogs can step through with comfort.

Not exactly the handyman? Don’t worry. Cutting and drilling will not be problem, either. This type of dog door is simply inserted onto one part of your patio door’s side. You can also use this on sliding glass doors. There is no need to worry about the height of your patio doorframe, as these dog doors are basically available to fit various frame heights and come available in sizes apt for your pet’s body built.

How can the patio dog door be secured?

Dog doors have, however, been radically used as the main access of thieves to enter the house they are robbing. It is therefore necessary that you install patio dog doors that are comprised of top-notch aluminum that are harder for thieves to open. The patio dog door panel should also have a security lock system. Some can be attached to a plain patio dog door for added security. These devices ‘read’ the key attached to your dog’s collar so that only he or she can enter.

Dog Doors provides detailed information on Dog Doors, Electronic Dog Doors, Patio Dog Doors, Screen Dog Doors and more. Dog Doors is affiliated with Soft Dog Crates.

Objects in the Mirror are Further Than They Appear

August 2nd, 2008

Definition From http://www.merriamwebster.com — “Virtual: – being such in essence or effect though not formally recognized or admitted.”

Virtual Businesses offer Real World Profitability

Let’s face it, most of the Fortune 500 companies are doing it. When you press five for customer service and you imagine a department on another floor, you are actually being routed, sometimes overseas, to a remote call center. These days, virtual or remote departments and workers exist in every aspect of business. In an online article called Good Times for Call Centers, at Network World Fusion (www.nwfusion.com) , a quote By Toni Kistner states “Customers include 1-800 Flowers, several marquis-name catalog and e-commerce retailers, as well as several retailers that sell direct via TV infomercials.” Another article about Cisco advertising ventures at www.cisco.com states, “Thanks to Cisco, we keep a small group of our best people working effectively, when and where they want to while also empowering us to bring in specialists from around the world, if and when needed to support our 15 person staff. These people work virtually as if they were in the office next door.”

“Virtuality” is the hottest trend in business today. The recognition that four walls are not needed to establish a company presence has sparked the imagination of virtually everyone. But no one wants to admit it! Does the call center mention that they are located in Taiwan? You have a problem and you want it solved. As long as the end result is accomplished you, as the customer, are satisfied. If this result is accomplished pleasantly and efficiently, you are more than satisfied, you are now an assured repeat customer.

Making a Virtual Business Work

As an employee, you want to feel confident in your product knowledge, an integral part of the company and included in its vision, mission and results, and not treated like an outsider. Being left in the dark is not only a death knoll for employee loyalty, it can eventually erode your company! The efficacy of virtual departments and companies is evident. They can work. What is the most important factor? Having worked with cutting-edge companies that embrace and utilize “Virtuality”, I have seen successes, situations that need improvement, and total failures.

My observance of this has led me to the following conclusion: That communication is the absolute key to success in such ventures. The quality of communication between employees as well as customers will determine your future success, period. Your employees cannot be effective unless they are informed and have a feeling of belonging. They must be knowledgeable about the company mission, values, goals and products. They must be excellent with troubleshooting but without communication how effective can they be? Their feelings are most certainly conveyed to the client or customer. If they feel connected and informed, it comes through.

Start with a Virtual PBX System

Great technology can most assuredly help in the area of communication. A phone system that keeps you all connected, seamlessly is the beginning. There are many products on the market, but my personal experience with one in particular has been most satisfactory. Virtual PBX, a system available through Access Direct, (www.messagingservice.com) is wonderful.
A local number (or 800 number, depending upon your preference) is established. For a virtual company, having a staff (for example) of say six virtual employees, the auto attendant will go down the line “for John Doe, press 1, for Mary Doe, press 2. You are then seamlessly routed to your party, whatever that employee’s preference; cell phone, landline, etc. The employee is then alerted that the incoming call is from the company with an announcement of “To accept this call, press 1, to return this call to voicemail, press 2)”. If the call is routed to voicemail, not only will that message be waiting in your voicemail box, it is also routed to your email address, so they can click and listen through their desktop computer speakers or, we can send a brief e-mail text message to their cell phone, letting them know a new message is waiting. This system not only works beautifully, it’s affordable.

Teleconferencing is the Way to Go!

Weekly or monthly staff meetings will foster camaraderie amongst the staff, keep everyone in touch with what is going on in the company and personalize relationships. Using a “bridge line” is great for this. Eagle Teleconferencing (www.eagleconf.com) is a great company to use. For companies that can afford video conferencing, this is the piece d’ resistance in the world of virtuality. This is the perfect vehicle for enforcing or updating the company mission, values and goals and also to listen to and address employee concerns and needs, not to mention the next best thing to being in front of your customers. But we are getting away from what matters most because it’s not really about the equipment you use. Even if it’s just the landline phone or the dreaded snail mail, communicating with everyone, often, is the key.

The Personal Touch goes a Long Way

Having someone to touch base with your customers, adding the personal touch (thereby eliminating or at least lessening, the impersonality fostered by technology) can create customer loyalty.

A customer outreach program – - someone to call just to say hello, update contact information and keeping your company in the face of customers can have a direct impact by increasing business because you have placed yourself in the forefront of their minds and they may possibly make an order right there. Sending a useful, yet inexpensive gift or a thoughtful card can help. Terrie Williams, of the Terrie Williams Agency, has built her success on the foundation of “The Personal Touch” which is also the title of her book. “… you can learn to succeed by taking the time to know the person you’re trying to contact or deal with-even those with whom you’ve already established a relationship.”

Doing something a little extra can go a long way with your employees as well. First, knowing something about your remote employees, and sending little personalized cards or gifts accordingly, will foster loyalty. If you really want to go over the top, here’s a suggestion. Know the location of your remote employees and research the local deli or restaurant that provides delivery. Order coffee and Danish from each, paying via credit card and have it delivered at the time of a weekly or monthly staff meeting. It takes a bit of effort to be “personal” but the rewards can affect your bottom line in keeping the loyalty of employees and customers alike.

How can you find the time to be personal and run a company when there aren’t enough hours in the day? Spending 15 minutes a day to come up with creative ways to value your staff and customers isn’t much when you think about the return on your investment. And if you still have no time, get a virtual assistant to help.
